Silvio Varga

A commercial professional by trade, a strategist by formation. I built my discipline in sales and negotiation, and it all began in insurance, where, through selling policies, I mastered commercial, marketing and business communication in the contract segment. It is a world where value is not declared but proven, and where every conversation is an exercise in reading the person before you and their real interests.

I run my business in Croatia and Germany, and through a partner agency my presence extends to the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

Before entering marketing, I ran a family business with several verticals, from hospitality and a towing service to car washes, with more than 15 employees over an entire decade. It was a school of operations and ultimate responsibility, earned in post-war Croatia, in a time that demanded the courage to put family and material assets on the line and to take the first entrepreneurial steps precisely when it was hardest. Although the business reached its peak, the environment worked against those who build: nepotism, a suffocating bureaucracy with no end in sight, and the shortage and outflow of skilled professionals abroad systematically closed off the room for progress. That is exactly why I made the best possible decision and carried out a strategic exit from ownership of an established business, which under a changed ownership structure operates successfully to this day.

Taking on a new challenge thereafter in the sale of the strongest corporate insurance, from property and business-risk policies to life insurance and many others, I demonstrated my sales and commercial potential in full and rose to lead a team of 30 people. Yet the premiums and earnings, dispiriting relative to the effort invested, justifiably led me from that position too onto a path across the Atlantic, driven by the desire to broaden my horizons, get to know other cultures and continue my education.

In Canada, in search of an interesting challenge and a change of pace, I started out as a professional truck driver. Thanks to my perfect command of English, I quickly advanced into the dispatch division of one of the leading micro freight-forwarding companies in Vancouver (British Columbia), a company with more than 150 employees, where I took on the role of head dispatcher and logistician responsible for steering and growing the business. In parallel, in Seattle (Washington) in the United States, I earned the highest level of advanced marketing education, which today I count among the most successful moves, professional and personal, I have ever made. In the end, however, longing for my homeland and the need to be closer to my country prevailed.

After Canada, I accepted a lucrative offer in Germany, where I am based to this day. This path led me to my own brand not by chance but as a logical progression, for each stage left behind a tool that I now put in the service of other people's results.

What sets me apart is not rhetoric but the mechanics of results, delivered with an integrity that allows no embellishment. The trigger for the complete digital-marketing transformation of my business was a new challenge: a social community I launched to bring sellers and buyers together, which grows organically by 150 to 300 members per week, and whose enquiries led me into strategic consulting with measurable impact. It developed at dizzying speed into a loyal, family-like and welcoming community that increasingly demanded further development at a considerably higher and more demanding level than originally envisaged. This transatlantic fusion of modern Western marketing know-how resulted in a large ongoing investment backed by HAMAG and HBOR (Croatia's state-backed development and business-promotion institutions, comparable to a national development bank such as Germany's KfW), in cooperation with a high-tech agency of which I am the originator of the concept and a co-owner. It is a software solution without precedent in this market, with protected intellectual property.

Among my clients are established companies from the agricultural sector whose commercial presence I strengthen, with full discretion, kept as carefully as their figures.

After more than 15 years spent outside my homeland, I understand well how marketing works at the highest level of business. I have combined transatlantic values and experience with contemporary Western skills, alongside flawless communication in 3 languages, and resolved to pass this knowledge on and contribute it to Croatia, where I had previously recognised and thoroughly analysed the potential of the market, the profession and the target sector in which I operate.
